Ulysses S. Grant is a character in AMC's Hell on Wheels. He was the Commanding General of the Union Army during the American Civil War. Ulysses then briefly served as Secretary of War and was later elected as the 18th President of the United States.

Biography[]

Ulysses was born on April 27, 1822 in Point Pleasant, Ohio, to Jesse Root Grant, a tanner and merchant and Hannah Simpson Grant.

"One Less Mule" Grant shows up with the board of Crédit Mobilier and sits in for Bohannon's hearing. He later confides in Bohannon that he doesn't really trust Durant and that they should work together. To spite Durant, Grant had the Department of Land Management rename Durant, Nebraska Cheyenne.
